Anatomy of a loss.

 

 Ella had a loss this summer. Her best friend in the whole world who also happens to be her cousin moved away from our back yard here in Orlando to Virginia. It has been a hard summer from the get go between it being her first school summer off, her dad having a major car accident and her cousin leaving. Ella felt a lot of loss and this mama's heart hurt for her.

 This picture was one of the last taken of them, konked out in the car. I remember driving over to get Peyton and Ella said, "Payton is my little princess."

 So its been two months since Payton left and I think not a day goes by that Ella doesn't talk about her cousin. Just yesterday she drew this picture of them togather at a sleep over. She talks about her club. She told me a few days ago that when she gets bigger she's going to ride a plane to see her cousin.

It seems to me it a bosom buddy bond between these two. In their five years most of the time they have lived apart, very far apart with one in California and the other in Florida. And still they have this bond. My hope is that they keep it, for a long long time to come. That absence will make the heart grow fonder.
